Day 7 – Dog Trainer and her Dogs in Valencia

Tried a park walk today with the dogs – not my preferred style of walk but felt it important to truly explore the city.

There is an enclosed dog park, which I had seen and decided to visit with my three.  It is a really well designed space, which unfortunately, is not looked after by those who frequent it.  Dog poo everywhere you step.  There is some sturdy agility type equipment which was a nice touch.  A couple of benches and a water fountain to top up dog bowls.

The occupants feel that they can release their dogs from their leads and then take no more responsibility for them.  One dog in particular was hounding poor Izzy to such an extent that within a couple of minutes we had to leave.

Further on is a big, and very beautiful park on the southern side of the city.  Here there are signs that say dogs must be on leads.  This is systematically ignored by the majority of dog owners that frequent the park.  Again the dogs were ill mannered and not supervised, allowed to do pretty much what they wanted.  I found this to be very disappointing, and was a huge black mark on the city in my opinion

The park itself is really very beautiful and it was a real shame that I did not wish to spend more time there due to the other occupants.  As I always say though, you must advocate for your own dogs.
